“Teaching children about the natural world should be treated as one of the most important events in their lives.” – Thomas Berry

Our history

The Prospect Bay Children’s Centre opened in September 1988, to serve the needs of the community. We offer a licensed part day preschool, a full day preschool, a before and after-school programme, March Break and Summer Nature Camps. We follow the regulations in the Nova Scotia Day Care Act & Regulations (which are posted on our bulletin board) and are inspected bi-annually by the Department of Community Services.

Green Plan

We believe that part of caring for your child is caring for the world they live in!
Protecting your child’s well being and the environment has always been our priority since we opened in 1988:
We focus on green living and stewardship.

We encourage a lifestyle that has minimal impact on the environment and strive to benefit the environment.

We believe in waste reduction, reusing, recycling, and resource conservation.

We use only safe and sustainable practices and buy organic, local food whenever possible.
DID YOU KNOW?
Prospect Bay Children's Centre worked on a community recycling programme in the early 1990’s which eventually lead to our current curbside pick up of recyclables.
